Everybody these days love two things for sure – travelling and shopping and very fondly love to show off the things you buy.
But what about the things that you buy while you travel and find no place in your house to place them?
How do you show off these things?
1. Drape them
Do you have an expensive fabric piece made of the famous Bandini work that you bought in Rajasthan lying around finding no place in your house?
Well instead of leaving it in your wardrobe away from everyone’s house put it into another purpose.
Convert the fabric into curtain for your bedroom or a pillow cover in your living room or a table linen for your dining table.
2. Repurpose them
We all love the blue pottery of Jaipur, black pottery of U.P and surely have a piece or two of these lying around. But how well are these being used?
It is never too late to repurpose these items. The huge ceramic bowls of Jaipur can be turned into wash basin bowls by just drilling a hole in the bottom and fixing an outlet pipe.
Or convert those tiny terracotta bowls of West Bengal into key holders or nuts bowl.
3. Curate it
Instead of leaving those brass sculptures that you bought in Tamil Nadu put them on display in your entryway.
The sculptures look very welcoming on the console table or on the center table.
While placing them on a center table, choose a tray to display them. This way you can mix and match different cultures as well.
4. Hang it
We all are fond of the Banjara Wall hanging or the tapestry of Kashmir, but where to hang them?
You can always hang them in your bedroom behind the bed or your sofa to add a splash of color to your room.
Not just tapestries, you can hang the baskets of Assam or the masks of Cheriyal on your entryway wall and turn it into an accent wall.
5. Focal Points
Souvenirs are excellent focal points no matter the size. Place them on a side table or hang in the corridor they will always stand out and become focal points.
6. Reuse it
Not every piece that you buy while you travel should be used how it should be. You can always find ways to use it differently.
The paper mache that you bought in Kashmir need not stay in the shelf; instead use it to adorn your book shelf
7. Pin them up
Not just the souvenirs but the pictures that you click during the vacation matters. The joy that you experience is as valuable as any souvenir.
So make sure you pin them up either on your refrigerator or your study table or the book shelf. I am sure every time either you or someone looks at it, will end up having a big smile.
